LuciOsim is an osimertinib 80 mg tablet made by Lucius Pharma, available as a pack of 30 tablets. It is a prescription-only targeted therapy for EGFR mutation-positive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), prescribed and monitored by an oncologist.

Understanding osimertinib

Osimertinib is an EGFR inhibitor, a type of targeted cancer medicine. It acts on a faulty EGFR protein found in some lung tumours and slows the signals that drive their growth. A test for EGFR mutations is done first to check that the treatment suits the patient. Read more in our Osimertinib guide.

When LuciOsim is prescribed

According to the official osimertinib labelling, doctors use it in adults with EGFR mutation-positive NSCLC:

  • After surgery for early-stage disease, to lower the chance of recurrence
  • As a first treatment for locally advanced or metastatic disease
  • In combination with pemetrexed and platinum-based chemotherapy
  • Following platinum-based chemoradiation when surgery is not possible
  • After earlier EGFR-targeted treatment has stopped working and the T790M mutation is found

The final decision always rests with your oncologist.

Dosage

The labelled dose is one 80 mg tablet taken once daily, with or without food, for as long as your doctor advises. Never adjust the dose or stop treatment on your own. Taken at this dose, one 30-tablet pack lasts about 30 days.
